Welcome

We are a community of lay men and women following the Carmelite tradition of contemplative prayer and service, inspired by the life and writings of Saint Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Guided by the spirit of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we seek to grow in the interior life and in the love of God through silence, simplicity, and fraternity.

“In the twilight of life, God will not judge us on our earthly possessions or human success, but on how well we have loved.”
— St. John of the Cross

Our Carmelite Roots

The Coastal Community of St. John of the Cross is part of the worldwide Carmelite family, founded on Mount Carmel in the 12th century. Our members live in the world, striving to embody contemplative values in everyday life.
